18 FEET OF TOWERING FURY!
When two female campers are brutally killed in a national park, the chief ranger (Christopher George) and his men realize they’re dealing with an unusually big and aggressive bear. A commercially successful rip-off of Jaws (1975) where everything has been exhaustively copied, from how the attacks are staged, the conflicts and characters (there’s even a Robert Shaw clone), down to the music score. Absurd and incompetent; never dull, but staggeringly unimaginative.
1976-U.S. 92 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by William Girdler. Cast: Christopher George (Michael Kelly), Andrew Prine (Don Stober), Richard Jaeckel (Arthur Scott), Joan McCall, Joe Dorsey.
Trivia: Alternative title: Killer Grizzly. Followed by Grizzly II: Revenge, filmed in 1983 but completed in 2020.
