SIX MONTHS. SIX NOVELS. SIX MEMBERS.Ā
Screenwriter Robin Swicord has adapted many novels in the past and this project seemed fitting for her feature film directing debut, a story depicting six people who form a book club devoted to Jane Austenās novels. We follow them over the course of six months and fans of the author will have fun noting how the characters reflect some of Austenās famous literary figures. But even if you donāt know your Austen thereās pleasure to derive from this uncomplicated but enjoyable film that has romance, laughs and an attractive cast. The characters, who are a motley bunch, and their problems are engaging enough.
