Reno 911!: Miami

A group of incompetent cops from Reno arrive in Miami to participate in a big convention… but they end up fighting bad guys instead. The 2003-2009 TV show is transferred to the big screen in a way that will satisfy its loyal fans; it is certainly not as bad as Police Academy 5 (1988), which had a similar plot, but the steady stream of jokes is uneven. You need a childish sense of humor to truly appreciate the low-brow style, which is ably upheld, but sustaining an entire movie is not easy. The actors’ enthusiasm remains an asset.

2007-U.S. 84 min. Color. Directed by Robert Ben Garant. Cast: Carlos Alazraqui (James Garcia), Mary Birdsong (Cherisha Kimball), Robert Ben Garant (Travis Junior), Kerri Kenney-Silver, Thomas Lennon, Wendi McLendon-Covey. Cameos: The Rock, Danny DeVito, Paul Reubens, Patton Oswalt, Paul Rudd.

Trivia: Co-produced by DeVito.
