Ghost Town

HE SEES DEAD PEOPLE… AND THEY ANNOY HIM.

Dentist Bertram Pincus (Ricky Gervais) can’t stand his patients, co-workers or anyone around him… which gets even worse when ghosts discover that he can see them and start hounding him with their unfinished business. A real star vehicle for Gervais who is always funny in unsympathetic roles like this (even if we have seen his shtick several times before now); Greg Kinnear and Téa Leoni support him nicely. It’s an amusing romantic comedy with a few laughs and New York locations that truly add to the pleasure, but why must it so desperately cling to predictability? The story is strictly formulaic.

2008-U.S. 102 min. Color. Directed by David Koepp. Cast: Ricky Gervais (Bertram Pincus), Téa Leoni (Gwen Herlihy), Greg Kinnear (Frank Herlihy), Billy Campbell, Kristen Wiig, Dana Ivey.
