TO LEAVE THE NEST, SOME MEN JUST NEED A LITTLE PUSH.
Interventionist Paula (Sarah Jessica Parker) is hired by a 35-year-old slacker’s (Matthew McConaughey) parents to make him fall in love with her and move out of their home. One of those romantic comedies that want to be a little different but ends up inventing a concept that is simply too screwed-up to believe in. The characters are never entirely convincing, even though the stars are likeable enough. All the scenes where people are bitten by animals are totally superfluous, but the film as a whole is not without charm.
2006-U.S. 96 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Tom Dey. Cast: Matthew McConaughey (Tripp), Sarah Jessica Parker (Paula), Zooey Deschanel (Kit), Justin Bartha, Bradley Cooper, Kathy Bates… Stephen Tobolowsky.
