AR April 2025: Health

For most of us, life begins in a hospital and is likely to end in a medical facility too. We visit hospitals during our lives – if not for a broken arm or surgery, then for an unwell loved one. Healthcare is a universal need, but access to it is deeply unequal. The April issue of The Architectural Review examines how this inequity plays out spatially, in healthcare buildings as well as architectures of health understood more broadly, such as sewage infrastructure and public parks.
