Regina Fuller (Christine Baranski) intends to evict everybody in her hometown and sell the land to a mall developer, but faces resistance from the locals and an angel (Dolly Parton). Originally a stage play, this Netflix adaptation has Parton’s songs and Debbie Allen’s choreography. Borrowing ingredients from ”A Christmas Carol”, the film is schmaltzy and unsophisticated; too few music numbers will have you tapping your foot. Parton’s cheerful presence compensates to some degree.
