The Dirt

THEIR MUSIC MADE THEM FAMOUS. THEIR LIVES MADE THEM INFAMOUS.

Perhaps the screen adaptation of Neil Strauss’s wild biography on the history of glam metal band Mötley Crüe needed a director who’s made his fair share of Jackass movies. If you came looking for sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll, that’s what you’re getting in spades; the film grabs your attention and holds it for quite some time. But just like so many other biographies it tries to do too much; there are too many characters with rich stories. After a while, we’re exhausted and what should feel touching turns out a little flat. The cast is OK.

2019-U.S. VOD. 107 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Jeff Tremaine. Book: Neil Strauss, Tommy Lee, Mick Mars, Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx. Cast: Douglas Booth (Nikki Sixx), Daniel Webber (Vince Neil), Colson Baker (Tommy Lee), Iwan Rheon (Mick Mars), Pete Davidson, David Costabile.
