The Call

THERE ARE 188 MILLION 911 CALLS A YEAR. THIS ONE MADE IT PERSONAL.

When teenager Casey Welson (Abigail Breslin) is abducted but manages to call 911, veteran operator Jordan Turner (Halle Berry) has to face her own fears after a tragic incident six months ago. The original idea for this thriller was to make a TV series, but considering the somewhat limited setting a movie was probably a better idea. Berry is very good in the lead as the operator who tries to help the victim of a serial killer, and the story gets off to an exciting start. But the killer is too clichéd, and the movie turns less interesting once Berry gets directly involved in the chase.

2013-U.S. 94 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Brad Anderson. Cast: Halle Berry (Jordan Turner), Abigail Breslin (Casey Welson), Morris Chestnut (Paul Phillips), Michael Eklund, David Otunga, Michael Imperioli.

Trivia: Joel Schumacher was reportedly considered as director.
