When a Mexican crime boss finds out that the man who made his daughter pregnant is called Alfredo Garcia, he demands his headā¦ and the hunt for it is on. Ignored by audiences and most critics on its release, this film has earned a minor cult reputation, most likely because of its love story between a war veteran and his hooker girlfriend that has a poetic feel to it, and because of the absurd part where Warren Oates develops a relationship with the titular severed head. The star gives a good, tortured performance, but the story never really takes off in spite of inspired moments.
