EVAN HELP US.
TV news anchor Evan Baxter (Steve Carell) is elected to Congress, but his successful life takes a strange turn when God (Morgan Freeman) tells him that he must build an ark. The sequel to Bruce Almighty (2003) elevates Carell’s supporting character to a lead. Unfortunately, he’s not very funny here and the filmmakers have been so obsessed with attracting a Midwest Christian audience that they forgot to write good jokes. Great visual effects in the final sequence… but there’s not much of a point to the film.
