Eragon

AS DARKNESS FALLS, THE LAST DRAGON WILL CHOOSE ITS RIDER.

In a country far away, 17-year-old Eragon (Ed Speleers) finds a dragon’s egg; the hatched creature is destined to help him overthrow the king’s evil rule. One would think that if it’s necessary to make another fantasy adventure in the style of so many predecessors the filmmakers would at least come up with something novel. A few decent ingredients, but an annoyingly dull and harmless film; Jeremy Irons and John Malkovich make appearances long enough to warrant their paychecks.Ā

2006-U.S. 104 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed byĀ Stefan Fangmeier. Novel: Christopher Paolini. Cast: Ed Speleers (Eragon), Jeremy Irons (Brom), Sienna Guillory (Arya), Robert Carlyle, John Malkovich, Djimon Hounsou. Voice of Rachel Weisz.

Trivia: Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen were allegedly considered for the part of Brom.
