Duplex

ALEX AND NANCY FINALLY FOUND THEIR DREAM HOME… AND THEN THEY MOVED IN.

A married couple (Ben Stiller, Drew Barrymore) buy a Brooklyn duplex, but fail to realize that the elderly tenant upstairs is a nightmare in disguise. As a director, Danny DeVito is a dark guy, a fact he has proven in most of his comedies; unfortunately he tends to let his mean streak dominate too much. This movie is reminiscent of his Throw Momma From the Train (1987) and always goes for the loud and obnoxious, but it does have its absurd moments and a fun ending. Eileen Essell is terrific.Ā

2003-U.S. 89 min. Color. Directed and narrated byĀ Danny DeVito. Cast: Ben Stiller (Alex Rose), Drew Barrymore (Nancy Kendricks), Eileen Essell (Mrs. Connelly), Harvey Fierstein, Justin Theroux, James Remar… Wallace Shawn, Maya Rudolph.Ā

Trivia: Co-produced by Stiller and Barrymore.
