After a few failed dates, Noa (Daisy Edgar-Jones) meets a likable man (Sebastian Stan) at a supermarket… but ends up his prisoner. The director’s first film addresses the genuine horrors of dating, presenting a dreamboat who suddenly appears off the dating apps and sweeps Noa off her feet. The filmmakers hit all the right, charming notes depicting her and Steve’s romance, but we can sense trouble brewing. The film’s greatest challenge is surprising us, because even when it veers into cannibal territory there’s little that seems fresh. Still, cheeky enough, with fetching performances by the two leads.
