Teenager Joanna’s (Nikki Hanseblad) dad (Shanti Roney) suffers from a depression and she’s desperately trying to find money for her ADHD medication… but life is easier whenever she’s hanging with her classmate Audrey (Melina Benett Paukkonen). The director’s feature film debut is one of two adaptations in 2022 of Jenny Jägerfeld novels (the other one is Comedy Queen), a technically well made film for a young audience where we can really feel the pressure in Joanna’s life, her wheeling and dealing coming across like a teen version of Uncut Gems (2019). Plenty of charm, not least thanks to the two leads, also in their film debut.
