Private investigator Charles Hayward (Max Irons) tries to find out who murdered a Greek-British tycoon; there’s plenty of suspects among his family. A film adaptation of Agatha Christie’s favorite novel should have been better considering co-writer Julian Fellowes’s involvement and that cast. It’s unusual to see such a young detective in a Christie mystery, but Irons pales in comparison with Glenn Close, Terence Stamp and Gillian Anderson who do their best to pump blood into their characters. Not a bad story, but everything preceding its conclusion is much too sluggish.
