The Boss Baby: Family Business

PLAYTIME IS OVER.

30 years after the events in the first film, Tim has a family of his own but it turns out that his baby daughter is there on a mission, just like uncle Ted was all those years ago. A somewhat bloated sequel with the same issues as the 2017 film: a colorful adventure that looks like it wants to compete with Pixar, aiming for emotion, but childish slapstick and a wildly contrived story about a scheming school principal always get in the way. Still, the animation has its creative moments and Gary Barlow’s song is uplifting.

2021-U.S. Animated. 107 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Tom McGrath. Song: ”Together We Stand” (Gary Barlow). Voices of Alec Baldwin (Ted Templeton, Jr.), James Marsden (Tim Templeton), Amy Sedaris (Tina Templeton), Ariana Greenblatt, Jeff Goldblum, Eva Longoria… Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Kudrow.

Trivia: Alternative title: The Boss Baby 2.
