Margot’s (Emily Bader) mother disappeared many years ago; now she’s trying to find out what happened, leading her and a couple of friends to a secluded Amish community. The franchise was revived for a movie that has no connection to the previous six chapters; the film constantly feels like something more elaborate that has been forced into the Paranormal Activity formula. Depicting a battle against a demon, the movie lacks real scares and then turns bizarrely over-the-top near the end.
