Ella (Camila Cabello), who’s dreaming of having her own fashion shop, suddenly meets Prince Robert (Nicholas Galitzine), disguised as a commoner; later, she’s invited to a royal ball. Another retelling of the old fairy tale, this time as a musical comedy with modern sensibilities. Much of the song score depends on hits from the last few decades (including ”Material Girl”), but there’s also a few new tunes. Bland stuff, but Cabello is an appealing Cinderella who knows how to carry a tune, and Billy Porter a lively choice as Fabulous Godmother.
