Dora and the Lost City of Gold

UNLEASH YOUR WILD SIDE.

16-year-old Dora Marquez (Isabela Moner) was raised in the Peruvian jungle, but is now trying to get used to a Los Angeles high school; a field trip to a museum leads Dora and her classmates on a wild adventure. A sequel of sorts to the popular cartoon Dora the Explorer and its spin-offs, taking our heroine into her teens. The adventure has an Indiana Jones vibe; the story may feel protracted and the visual effects vary in quality (Boots the monkey is a constant reminder), but it’s good entertainment for kids that has fun with the style of the original TV show. Moner is lovably enthusiastic as Dora.

2019-U.S.-Australia. 102 min. Color. Directed by James Bobin. Screenplay: Nicholas Stoller, Matthew Robinson. Cast: Isabela Moner (Dora Marquez), Jeff Wahlberg (Diego Marquez), Madeleine Madden (Sammy Moore), Nicholas Coombe, Michael Peña, Eva Longoria… Temuera Morrison. Voices of Benicio Del Toro, Danny Trejo.

Trivia: Moner previously provided the voice of Dora’s friend Kate on the animated TV show Dora and Friends in 2014.
