Firefighter Hannah Faber (Angelina Jolie), a smokejumper with experience from dealing with wildland fires, ends up protecting a boy (Finn Little) from two contract killers (Nicholas Hoult, Aidan Gillen). We’re used to getting intense action from Taylor Sheridan and that’s what he delivers in this fiery tale whose technical ingredients are far more impressive than the script. We know that the kid is being chased by the Mob, but we never learn much about what’s behind it all, and most characters are little more than clichés, including Jolie’s. Still, she’s terrific and the sheer energy of the hunt keeps us entertained.
