The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It

THE DEMONIC CASE THAT SHOCKED AMERICA.

In 1981, the Warrens (Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson) try to help a young man (Ruairi Oā€™Connor) whoā€™s been charged with murder; they know that heā€™s possessed by a demon. The third chapter in this series is no better than all the spin-offs the first movie inspired. A few scares here and there, with a very intense opening exorcism sequence, but the story (inspired by an actual case) disappoints whenever it delves deeper into its occultist theme. Oā€™Connorā€™s character is largely forgotten in the second half, but the two leads are still engaging.

2021-U.S. 112 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed byĀ Michael Chaves. Cast: Vera Farmiga (Lorraine Warren), Patrick Wilson (Ed Warren), Ruairi Oā€™Connor (Arne Johnson), Sarah Catherine Hook, John Noble, Julian Hilliard.

Trivia: Co-produced by James Wan, who also worked on the story.Ā
