Wonder Woman 1984

A NEW ERA OF WONDER BEGINS.Ā

In 1984, Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) and a dorky new geologist (Kristen Wiig) at the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. come across a mysterious item that grants its owner a wish. A very uneven (and long) sequel that keeps throwing in entertaining set pieces that prevent the story from dragging the whole movie down. Wiig and Pedro Pascal have their moments and Hans Zimmer delivers a muscular score, but the filmmakers donā€™t really take advantage of the period and there arenā€™t many thrills to the story about always getting what you wish for.

2020-U.S. 151 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed byĀ Patty Jenkins. Screenplay: Patty Jenkins, Geoff Johns, Dave Callaham. Music: Hans Zimmer. Cast: Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman), Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Kristen Wiig (Barbara Minerva/Cheetah), Pedro Pascal, Robin Wright, Connie Nielsen.

Trivia: Onscreen title: WW84. Co-produced by Jenkins, Gadot and Zack Snyder. Lynda Carter, who played Wonder Woman in the 1970s, has a cameo. Emma Stone was reportedly first considered for the part of Barbara.Ā
