Things Heard & Seen

In 1979, Catherine and George (Amanda Seyfried, James Norton) move with their young daughter to a small town in New York where they move into a house that’s not as empty as they thought. There’s a first for everything – here’s a horror movie made by directors who are more at home with indie comedies. Seyfried is excellent as a woman who, while her marriage deteriorates, slowly learns more about the spirits in her new home. Intriguing, but ultimately defeated by unsatisfying story elements and a lack of thrills.

2021-U.S. VOD. 120 min. Color. Written and directed by Shari Springer Berman, Robert Pulcini. Novel: Elizabeth Brundage (”All Things Cease to Appear”). Cast: Amanda Seyfried (Catherine Claire), James Norton (George Claire), Natalia Dyer (Willis), Rhea Seehorn, Alex Neustaedter, F. Murray Abraham.
