HOLD ON WITH ALL YOUR HEART.
Six-year-old Maisie (Onata Aprile) is caught in the middle when her affluent parents, a rock artist (Julianne Moore) and an art dealer (Steve Coogan), decide to split. The filmmakers did a clever thing, adapting Henry Jamesās 19th-century novel for a modern New York setting; not for a second does it feel dated. Moore and Coogan are worth a look as Maisieās chronically narcissistic parents. Our sympathies obviously lie with Maisie herself (Aprile is terrific) and the two twentysomethings who reluctantly become her guardians. Well made, even if everything is obvious from the beginning.Ā
