Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) is not thrilled to learn that Aurora (Elle Fanning) is about to marry a prince; what she doesn’t know is that the girl’s future mother-in-law (Michelle Pfeiffer) has deadly plans for every fairy. The sequel stays true to the overbaked style of the original, giving Jolie a true star turn as the intimidating Maleficent and offering audiences eye-popping landscapes in 3D and noisy action near the end as humans and fairies do battle. Suffers from the same problems as the first film, but Pfeiffer is terrific as the wicked queen.
