NUTTIER THAN A HOLIDAY FRUITCAKE!
The 18-year-old and very selfish Incan emperor Kuzco fires his adviserā¦ who makes sure he drinks a potion that turns him into a llama. What began as more of a traditionally elaborate Disney adventure/musical co-conceived by Roger Allers of Lion King fame ended in his departure and a complete reboot of the project. What we have instead is a lightweight, corny comedy with an annoying lead character (very aptly voiced by David Spade) who learns the value of friendship and generosity, but itās still fun because of its cheerful silliness and a hilarious villain duo in the shape of Eartha Kitt and Patrick Warburton.Ā
2000-U.S. Animated. 79 min. Color. Directed byĀ Mark Dindal. Song: āMy Funny Friend and Meā (Sting, Dave Hartley). Voices of David Spade (Kuzco), John Goodman (Pacha), Eartha Kitt (Yzma), Patrick Warburton, Wendie Malick, Kellyann Kelsoā¦ Tom Jones.
Trivia: During the Allers project, the film was going to be called Kingdom of the Sun. Followed by a direct-to-video sequel, Kronkās New Groove (2005), and an animated TV series, The Emperorās New School (2006-2008).
