The 101-Year-Old Man Who Skipped Out on the Bill and Disappeared

After finishing the very last bottle of a mysterious, red-colored and completely irresistible soda, Allan Karlsson (Robert Gustafsson) and his friends try to find the recipe, which was once in Allan’s possession. The sequel to The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared (2013) feels entirely superfluous, but fans might find some entertainment in the story of how a soda became a weapon in the struggle between the superpowers in the 1970s. Paper-thin in every respect and more silly than inspiring, in spite of some globetrotting escapades.

2016-Sweden. 108 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Felix Herngren, Måns Herngren. Screenplay: Felix Herngren, Hans Ingemansson. Cast: Robert Gustafsson (Allan Karlsson), Iwar Wiklander (Julius), David Wiberg (Benny), Shima Niavarani, Jens Hultén, Svetlana Rodina-Ljungkvist… Ralph Carlsson.

Trivia: Original title: Hundraettåringen som smet från notan och försvann.
