THE BEST OF ENEMIES UNTIL SOMETHING CAME BETWEEN THEM.
Two retired old āfriendsā (Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau) spend their days in a small Minnesota town arguing and playing pranks on each otherā¦ but then a seductive, worldly woman (Ann-Margret) becomes a new neighbor. Seeing the two stars back together again for the first time since Buddy Buddy (1981) is a pleasure, even if their characters have been more or less reduced to caricatures. They do what they can; Burgess Meredith and Ann-Margret are also fun as Lemmonās horny father and the vivacious Ariel. Thin but amusing film, with the wintry location serving as a symbol of thawing emotions.
