Denial

THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS THE HOLOCAUST HAPPENED. NOW SHE NEEDS TO PROVE IT.

After declaring the British historian David Irving (Timothy Spall) a Holocaust denier, American professor Deborah Lipstadt (Rachel Weisz) has to defend herself in court in London. After The Reader (2008), writer David Hare returned to the Holocaust as a theme in a reality-based movie that takes on the delicate issues surrounding such an emotionally charged case ‚Äď are the facts of the Holocaust up for discussion and where do we draw the line? A fairly conventional trial drama, but engaging. The cast is a huge reason, including Weisz as the professor, Spall as the ‚ÄĚhistorian‚ÄĚ who‚Äôs built a career out of admiring Hitler, and Tom Wilkinson as an ebullient attorney.

2016-Britain-U.S. 109 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by¬†Mick Jackson. Screenplay: David Hare. Book: Deborah Lipstadt (‚ÄĚHistory on Trial: My Day in Court with a Holocaust Denier‚ÄĚ).
