The Cloverfield Paradox

THE FUTURE UNLEASHED EVERY THING.

In the future, astronauts are working on new energy solutions for Earth aboard a space station, but a sudden power surge hurls them into danger. The third Cloverfield movie connects with the original even though it is set in space, but its mix of horror and sci-fi is far too clichéd. Unlike the first two chapters in this series, this one is curiously dull. The attempt to intellectualize the thrills might put you to sleep; it doesn’t help that the station suffers from a dearth of compelling characters.

2018-U.S. 102 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Julius Onah. Cast: Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Ava Hamilton), David Oyelowo (Kiel), Daniel Brühl (Schmidt), John Ortiz, Chris O’Dowd, Aksel Hennie… Zhang Ziyi. Voice of Simon Pegg.

Trivia: Co-produced by J.J. Abrams. John Krasinski was allegedly considered for a role. The film’s first trailer premiered during Super Bowl in February 2018 – where it was also revealed that the film would be available on Netflix after the game.
