The Room

ONCE YOU GO IN… YOU NEVER COME OUT.

San Francisco banker Johnny (Tommy Wiseau) loves his fiancée (Juliette Danielle) deeply, but doesn’t realize that she’s grown tired of him and has begun an affair with his friend (Greg Sestero). What’s generally known as one of the worst movies ever made, this was a pet project for Wiseau who did everything wrong. The story’s tragic romance is undermined by a lack of logic, amateurish acting (especially Wiseau who’s laughable), subplots leading nowhere and poor technical filmmaking. Often plays like a bad comedy.

2003-U.S. 99 min. Color. Produced, written and directed by Tommy Wiseau. Cast: Tommy Wiseau (Johnny), Greg Sestero (Mark), Juliette Danielle (Lisa), Phillip Haldiman, Carolyn Minnott, Robyn Paris.

Trivia: Later earned a cult following; Sestero wrote a book about his experiences on set, which was filmed as The Disaster Artist (2017).
