Howard the Duck

A NEW BREED OF HERO.

Perhaps no other movie from the 1980s received such a harsh treatment than this adaptation of Steve Gerberā€™s comic-book duck, an unusual member of the Marvel family. The decision to cast an actor in a duck suit is just one of many awkward, clumsy aspects, but the biggest problem is the script that has Howard transported to Earth and drawn into an adventure where other, more intimidating space creatures turn into a threat. Silly and tepid, with jokes that fall flat; packed with repetitive explosions and chases.

1986-U.S. 111 min. Color. Directed byĀ Willard Huyck. Comic Book: Steve Gerber. Cast: Lea Thompson (Beverly Switzler), Jeffrey Jones (Walter Jenning), Tim Robbins (Phil Blumburtt), Paul Guilfoyle, Holly Robinson, Miles Chapinā€¦ David Paymer. Voice of Chip Zien.

Trivia: Co-executive produced by George Lucas. John Landis was allegedly considered as director.

Razzies: Worst Picture, Screenplay, New Star, Visual Effects.
