IT’S DATE NIGHT.
Jennifer Hills (Sarah Butler) drives out to a cabin in the woods that she’s rented for two months, hoping to get some writing done; then she’s attacked by a few sadistic local men… This remake of the cult horror movie Day of the Woman (1978) is a rape-and-revenge piece in the same vein, featuring a very protracted rape of the female lead and then an equally drawn out process where she comes back to torture the rapists to death, one by one. Female empowerment? No, pure, utterly pointless torture.
2010-U.S. 105 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Steven R. Monroe. Cast: Sarah Butler (Jennifer Hills), Rodney Eastman (Andy), Daniel Franzese (Stanley), Jeff Branson, Andrew Howard, Chad Lindberg.
Trivia: Followed by two sequels, starting with I Spit on Your Grave 2 (2013).
