The Bye Bye Man

DON’T THINK IT. DON’T SAY IT.

Three college students (Douglas Smith, Lucien Laviscount, Cressida Bonas) move into a house theyā€™re renting, but fail to realize that an old nightstand holds clues to a deadly, supernatural presence. A horror movie that comes up with a reason for why people snap and commit mass murder, but sadly itā€™s a dull answer that only evokes other, better horror movies such as Candyman (1992). Bad CGI in the shape of a demon dog, and no real shocks. The stale Bye Bye Man must be one of the talented Doug Jonesā€™s easiest paychecks.

2017-U.S. 96 min. Color. Directed byĀ Stacy Title. Cast: Douglas Smith (Elliot), Lucien Laviscount (John), Cressida Bonas (Sasha), Doug Jones (The Bye Bye Man), Carrie-Anne Moss, Faye Dunaway.

Trivia: Inspired by a chapter from Robert Damon Schneckā€™s book ā€The Presidentā€™s Vampireā€.
