A hairdresser (Trine Dyrholm) who’s just survived breast cancer goes to Italy for her daughter’s wedding, where the groom’s father (Pierce Brosnan) initially rubs her the wrong way… Perhaps a revelation for international audiences to see that Danish director Susanne Bier knows not only how to create dark dramas but also sunny, romantic comedies. At the same time as the two leads are attracted to each other, the wedding runs into problems. The movie benefits from striking views of the Italian landscape and very appealing efforts from Brosnan and Dyrholm. Entertaining and well made, but hardly a novel experience.
