THE MAN. THE MYTH. THE MEMOIRS. 

Sam Larson (Kevin James) gets his fictional spy novel published online, but accidentally under nonfiction; suddenly he finds himself in Venezuela where he’s expected to perform as a top assassin. A story that’s been done many times before becomes a vehicle for James who brings his usual charm to the part. Watching him get ensnared in various plots involving guerrilla fighters and drug lords in a Venezuela that seems to have very little to do with the actual country is amusing in fits and starts. The action scenes are serviceable, but the film uninspired on the whole.
