TO PROTECT AND SERVE THE LIVING.
When Boston cop Nick Walker (Ryan Reynolds) is murdered, he is recruited in the afterlife to R.I.P.D. where they hunt souls who refuse to leave the Earth. This 3D action-comedy, that borrows from films like Ghostbusters (1984) and Men in Black (1997), bombed in spite of promising ideas in its concept. Jeff Bridges is fun to watch as a grumpy 19th century marshal, but the story is predictable, the tone becomes increasingly hysterical and the film is loaded with visual effects that aren’t satisfying enough.
