beyondbordersAfter a horrifying, eye-opening encounter with a desperate doctor (Clive Owen) whoā€™s been working in Ethiopia, socialite Sarah Jordan (Angelina Jolie) becomes engaged in his plight. Jolieā€™s work as a U.N. goodwill ambassador was reflected in this drama, and a diary from her travels that was released at the same time as the movie. Made with good intentions and addresses some of the ethical dilemmas involved in charity work, but itā€™s much harder to care about the Jolie-Owen romance; the characters remain emotionally distant.
