MAY THE BEST MAN LIVE.
In 1981, British mercenary Danny Bryce (Jason Statham) agrees to kill three former SAS soldiers, in order to save the life of a colleague (Robert De Niro) who’s being held hostage in Oman. The novel was based on ”real-life events”, which has been heavily disputed, even though SAS troops were indeed involved in a 1970s rebellion in Oman. A promising starting point, and the director (in his debut) stages a few decent action scenes. Not a bad cast either, but the story is cluttered, feels flat and doesn’t have much tension.
