WHEN EVERYTHING WENT WRONG, SIX MEN HAD THE COURAGE TO DO WHAT WAS RIGHT.
Director Michael Bay took a break from his robots and turned his attention to a real-life event that became a political hot potato for then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton – the attack on a U.S. base in Benghazi, Libya that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens. The film focuses not on politics as much as a team of military contractors who are left defending a CIA outpost. Long but often compelling, the film delivers when it comes to the action (of which there is plenty). But neither the clichéd script nor Bay’s bombastic style shows any real interest in the characters.
