After surviving an attack in London, U.S. Embassy employee Kate Abbott (Milla Jovovich) finds herself on the run from her superiors and one of the world’s best assassins, a man called “The Watchmaker” (Pierce Brosnan). The film ends with a message, written in earnest, about how many acts of terrorism have been avoided in New York City… but this thriller has nothing to do with real life. Unable to shake off its air of mediocrity, the film has a few good scenes, and I’m sure that Brosnan enjoyed playing a bad guy for once.
