Wreck-It Ralph

THE STORY OF A REGULAR GUY JUST LOOKING FOR A LITTLE WRECK-OGNITION.Ā

wreckitralphRalph, a video-game villain, is tired of playing the same role over and over and sets out to become a hero by jumping into a first-person shooter game. A Simpsons and Futurama veteran helmed this 3D Disney adventure that celebrates the world (and history) of video games in charming and enthusiastic ways; it’s an attitude that even infuses the music score. Great voice work and colorful design of the games (not least the “Candy Crush” clone), but the story and villain are nothing special, and just like in Antz (1998) there’s something phony about characters longing for something that just isn’t natural in their limited world.

2012-U.S. Animated. 101 min. Color. Directed byĀ Rich Moore. Music: Henry Jackman. Voices of John C. Reilly (Ralph), Sarah Silverman (Vanellope), Jack McBrayer (Felix), Jane Lynch, Alan Tudyk, Mindy Kalingā€¦ Ed O’Neill, Adam Carolla.Ā

Trivia: Followed by Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018).
