Alvin (Paul Rudd) and his girlfriend’s brother (Emile Hirsch) spend the summer together repainting traffic lines along a highway in an area ravaged by wildfire. A return to the indie scene for Pineapple Express director David Gordon Green. A remake of 2011 Icelandic film Either Way, this one puts two very different people together in an intimate situation. The issues they deal with in their own little ways revolve around relationships and the value of getting to know oneself by being alone. Uses its actual wildfire-ravaged Texas locations well, but never amounts to much.
2013-U.S. 93 min. Color. Widescreen. Written and directed by David Gordon Green. Cast: Paul Rudd (Alvin), Emile Hirsch (Lance), Lance LeGault (Truck Driver), Joyce Payne.
Trivia: Payne is not an actor, but one of the people who lost their homes in the 2011 Bastrop County fire in Texas.
