Simon (James McAvoy) works for a fine-art auction house in London and becomes involved in the theft of a valuable Goya painting… but a blow to the head causes an unusual problem. Director Danny Boyle’s first film since the excellent 127 Hours (2010) is a disappointment, a remake of a 2001 TV movie. Undeniably entertaining, thanks to snazzy visuals, a pounding music score and engrossing performances by the three leads whose characters remain ambiguous… but its complicated twists and turns fail to convince.
