TIME TO MEET THE DEVIL.
If you found Drive (2011) to be hollow and excessively violent, you ain’t seen nothing yet. This time, Ryan Gosling plays a drug dealer and owner of a Thai boxing club in Bangkok who squares off with a powerful enemy (Vithaya Pansringarm). The director has filled his film with disgusting people, added surreal David Lynchian touches and told his cast to simply strike poses here and there. Interminably boring. Sole virtue: Kristin Scott Thomas is sort of fun to watch as Gosling’s bitchy mom.
