A group of friends gather in a old cabin in the woods to help Mia (Jane Levy) kick her drug addiction… but everything goes to hell when they find a mysterious book. The director and star of the original Evil Dead (1983) fall for the temptation to deliver a a new take that fits into the cookie cutter standard that comes with every horror remake these days. Very gory, but its shocks are sometimes ineptly staged and the filmmakers are unable to build any kind of tension.
