Nat and Josh (Rose Byrne, Rafe Spall) get married, but it doesn’t take long for them to land in a rutā¦ and then comes a dashing American (Simon Baker) into Nat’s professional life. Borat (2006) writer Dan Mazer’s directorial debut is a featherweight romantic comedy that succeeds in spite of its obvious formula. That’s always an achievement worthy of respect. One reason why the film works is the attractive cast, another is the sheer amount of laughs; some of the biggest are courtesy of Stephen Merchant as Spall’s hilariously indelicate best friend. It also avoids the genre’s worst pitfalls.
