Get the Gringo

THE ODDS ARE AGAINST HIM. SO IS EVERYONE ELSE.

After a botched robbery, Driver (Mel Gibson) is arrested in Mexico and thrown in prison where he ends up relying on the support of a ten-year-old boy who is there for a special reason… This straight-to-VOD action-thriller wallows in dirt, blood and every other grimy ingredient you can imagine is part of life in the hellhole Gibson is trying to survive. Co-written by the star, the story has a leading character whose misery and sense of humor looks decidedly Gibson-esque. Entertaining at first, this clichéd effort grows wearisome after a while.

2012-U.S. 96 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Adrian Grunberg. Screenplay: Mel Gibson, Adrian Grunberg, Stacy Perskie. Cast: Mel Gibson (Driver), Kevin Hernandez (Kid), Daniel Giménez Cacho (Javi Huerta), Dolores Heredia, Peter Gerety, Peter Stormare.

Trivia: Alternative title: How I Spent My Summer Vacation.
