Page One: Inside the New York Times

THIS YEAR, THE BIGGEST STORY IS THEIR OWN.

pageoneThis documentary takes us inside ā€œThe Gray Ladyā€™sā€ newsroom for a year, where we follow a number of more or less colorful individuals at work, such as the soft-spoken managing editor Bill Keller, young hotshot Brian Stelter (the first blogger to be hired by the Times) and David Carr, the brash media columnist who has survived cocaine addiction. Over the year, the newspaper deals with issues arising from publishing WikiLeaks documents and the constant threat of a collapsing ad market thatā€™s even spurring talk of whether or not the New York Times can survive in its traditional form. Fascinating to anyone affiliated with this business, but somewhat lacking in focus and not compelling enough to capture a wider audience.

2011-U.S. 92 min. Color.Ā Directed byĀ Andrew Rossi.
